Description and Uses
m-PEG16-alcohol is a PEG linker containing a hydroxyl group. The hydroxyl group enables further derivatization or replacement with other reactive functional groups. The hydrophilic PEG spacer increases solubility in aqueous media.
m-PEG16-alcohol can be used in the preparation of triazolium ionic liquid catalysts which are then applied towards Stetter reaction. It is also used in the synthesis of PEG-based surfactants that show high selectivity in disrupting vesicular membranes in the presence or absence of cholesterol.
