Pyruvonitrile is a versatile electrophile useful for selective acylation, cyanohydrin synthesis, and cycloaddition reactions.
Pyruvonitrile was used in the synthesis of cuprate-carbonyl π-complexes by reaction with Me2CuLi in THF.
