Description and Uses

Aldrin is an obsolete organochlorine insecticide. It is banned from most of the developed world. It is virtually insoluble in water, quite volatile but unlikely to leach to groundwater. There are field studies that have shown that aldrin can be persistent in soils. It is highly toxic to mammals and has a high potential for bioaccumulation. Aldrin is considered to be a carcinogen and neurotoxicant. It is highly toxic to most biodiversity.

Formerly as insecticide and fumigant; manufacture and use has been discontinued in the U.S
