Description and Uses

Fenfuram is a systemic fungicide normally used as a seed treatment although it is now considered to be obsolete. It is moderately soluble in water and is also soluble in a range of organic solvents. Under certain conditions it may persist in soil systems. Little data is available on the toxicity of fenfuram to biodiversity but it is known to be moderately toxic to fish. Fenfuram has a low oral toxicity to humans but very little information is available regarding any potential chronic effects.

Fenfuram is a chemical compound from the group of amides and furans (furancarboxylic acid amides ). Fenfuram was discovered by Shell as a fungicide and 1974 brought by Keno Gard (later Aventis ) on the market. It belongs to the succinate dehydrogenase inhibitors.
