Description and Uses
Nizofenzone fumarate is a potent antianoxic agent reported of benefit to geriatric and stroke patients. In animal models nizofenzone is reported to have protective effects against anoxia, global ischemia or other conditions resulting from cerebral infarction. It is also claimed to be a sedative and anticonvulsant.
Nizofenone has the effect of prolonging survival time in local and global cerebral ischemia models, global cerebral ischemia-reperfusion models, and hypoxia models, and has the effect of improving brain function and shrinking cerebral embolism lesions. It is used for brain disorders caused by ischemia in the acute phase of mild to moderate subarachnoid hemorrhage.
