Description and Uses
7-(5-Amino-5-carboxyvaleramido)cephalosporanic acid exhibits activity against Staphylococcus aureus, Salmonella typhi, and Escherichia coli. However, due to its low antibacterial activity, it is not widely used clinically. But through modification, highly efficient derivatives can be obtained, and it is currently mainly used as an intermediate in the preparation of 7-aminocephalosporinic acid (7-ACA).
