3-Methylene Simvastatin is the impurity of Simvastatin (S485000), a synthetic derivative of a fermentation product of Aspergillus terreus. Simvastatin is a competitive inhibitor of HMG-CoA reductase and is the synthetic analog of Lavostatin, an antilipemic agent.
